Sisterhood
Congregation Sons of Israel Sisterhood
The Sisterhood at Sons of Israel serves two general functions. The Sisterhood promotes the well being of the shul through supporting the programs organized by the various shul committees. The Sisterhood also aims to further the religious, cultural and social interests of Sisterhood members.
Membership is open exclusively to women.
Meeting times: Sisterhood meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:30pm. The meetings function as an opportunity to discuss event ideas and vote on issues that affect the Sisterhood. The meetings are also a great opportunity for Sisterhood members to socialize among themselves and participate in organized events.
Some of the events Sisterhood organized and supported recently include:
Activities organized by the Sisterhood:
- Braiding & “Taking” Challah
- Annual movie night
- Baking / Cooking a Seuda for Shabbos or Yom Tov at shul
- Annual Cooking Demonstration & Tasting with chef Steve Bonner
- Fundraising projects for the shul and for Israel
Sisterhood sponsored activities:
- Talis Weaving Project
- Shabbos morning & Yom Tov babysitting
The Sisterhood is also involved with the following:
